Happy National Dive Bar Day Fayetteville… well, it’s technically on Thursday, July 7, but we need to give you time to pick some bars! In honor of this wonderful opportunity to take up a little drinking, we bring you this list of my favorite local dive bars.
“According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the colloquial use of the word dive to describe a “drinking den” or “other disreputable place of resort” comes from the fact that these types of establishments were originally housed in cellars or basements, into which “frequenters may ‘dive’ without observation.”
And while these aren’t necessarily what you would think of when it comes to a traditional “dive bar,” they are still great examples of places to go get a drink. And that’s all the excuse we need today.
