Model Awaits Eye Surgery After Tattoo Goes Horribly Wrong
Tattoos have increased in popularity over the years.We are sure each person who reads this article knows at least one person with a permanent piece of artwork on their skin. With people making appointments to get more tats, they’re running out of skin to cover! In a recent fashion, people have started to tattoo their eyes. However, the recovery process isn’t as quick as the skin and is rather dangerous.
One model from Ottawa, Canada, unfortunately, has lost her sign due to the new trend. Her ex-boyfriend attempted to tattoo her eye purple. In an interview with Vice, Catt Gallinger stated “The artist, my ex-boyfriend, just kept pushing me until I got it done that night. We were only together for a month, but I’ve known him for years. It was something I thought I could trust him with because he had a portfolio. I was wrong.”
Her ex, Eric Brown, used a needle that was too big for the eye and used “pure ink”. If this isn’t already disgusting, Brown also pushed too hard on the eye during the tattoo process. Immediately after the tattoo, Gallinger was experiencing pain and swelling but was sent home by the doctors. A few weeks later, she went to another doctor who then scheduled her for surgery.
To this day, Gallinger is still experiencing pain and blurry vision. She will be receiving eye surgery this upcoming week. She stated in an interview with The Canadian Press “At this point, every day is different. Some Days I feel a bit better, other days I kind of want to give up.”
Brown has spoken out about the accusations. He states that the reason the infection happened was because Gallinger didn’t use prescription eye drops.
Regardless of what happened, Ophthalmologist Setareh Ziai stated to the CBC the problems Gallinger received from this tattoo are the extreme version of possible risks. Scleral tattooing is not recommended and is highly dangerous.
