With the National Weather Service indicating Southeastern North Carolina is in line for severe weather Tuesday, Cumberland County Schools has announced it will hold an asynchronous remote learning that day.

It was one of many announcements coming, with potential hurricane-force winds coming through the area.

“A powerful storm will create the possibility of multiple hazards late tonight into Tuesday night,” the National Weather Service said. “Strong winds, isolated to numerous severe t-storms, heavy rain leading to scattered flash flooding & eventually river flooding are all possible. Be weather alert Tuesday and have multiple ways of receiving weather warnings!”

With the threat of severe weather, several school systems have announced early releases, or switches to remote learning. We will update this page throughout the day, as more announcements are made.
