It looks like there won’t be another seven-year gap between Cheap Trick albums.

The group — whose last album, 2016’s Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello was its first since 2009’s The Latest — has posted a message on Twitter revealing that, “We’ve been in the studio working on a new album — hope to have completed by Spring and released at the beginning of Summer 17.”

This will be Cheap Trick’s quickest turnaround since the 70s, when it was releasing an album a year. Guitarist Rick Nielsen tells us that the group was particularly prolific while making Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello, which provided momentum for a quick follow-up:

“We already have at least another album’s worth because we recorded probably around 30 songs we did and we narrowed that down to one album, and what we got rid of and didn’t put on the record is good stuff, too…We never try to be something we weren’t. We’re not gonna go, ‘Alright, we got to do this kind of solo or it’s got to be like… We’re a basic rock ‘n’ roll band.”

Cheap Trick sets sale on The 80’s Cruise on Saturday (February 11) out of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and will be on the road with Foreigner this summer, starting July 11 in Syracuse, N.Y.
